Mijas lift FAB Malaga Triples

The FAB Malaga Triples started at Lauro on Sunday 7th April with all six clubs represented in by at least one team in the round of 16 and was completed on scheduled on the 10 April.

S. Morgan, P. Fisher, M. Dethridge lost in an extra end thriller to a Miraflores trio Skipped by Morrow Horner.

T & B. Dahlgren with J.Rimell beat A La Posada team skipped by Billy Steele and managed to win the last three ends to overcome a six shot deficit and win by a single shot.

J. Wilson, J.Abel, B.Neal beat a Lauro team skipped by Jenny Parkin 28-8 with a concession in 14 ends.

The two Mijas teams faced off on Mondays quarter finals.

Tommys team won the first 5 ends with singles but then lost a 3 and 4 in the next 2 ends to go behind. John, Bill and Juan continued to pick up the multiples against singles from Tommy, Bente and John R giving themselves a ten shot gap going into the second last end, when Tommy managed to take the shot to force the last end. Sitting 4 down Tommy had a successful drive but could only manage 2 of the 9 shots needed.

John W, Bill and Juan beat Miraflores in the semi finals on Tuesday morning by a single shot in what was a closely contested match through out. Mijas took a six shot lead into the sixteenth end. After leads and seconds bowls lay all around the jack with a meter, Morrow drew the 1st and 2nd shot to cut the deficit to 3 going into the last end.

The Miraflores team held two shots before Morrows last bowl, but he was unable to repeat his perfect draw for the third to force the extra end.

In Wednesday Final both teams were unable to find top form, but the scores were tied at various points through out the game and Mijas had a 5 shot lead going in to the 16th end. La Posada then picked up a pair and then La Posada managed to pick up 3 shots with a great final bowl from Andy Woodings to go into the final end all square.

With La Posada holding shot John managed to push up a Mijas bowl through the jack and take the shot by an inch. Andy was unable to change the lie and Mijas were able to take the game with a bowl to spare.
