Mijas LBC hosted the 2024 Malaga Challenge Cup Final on Saturday 23rd November between defending Champions La Posada and last years beaten finalists Lauro.
The match was well supported by members of both clubs and the hosts with a number of representatives from the other members clubs.
La Posada took the early initiative and had a 7 shot lead after 24 ends and extended that to an 18 shot advantage by the end of the 48th end.
Lauro managed to close the gap to just 2 shots down after 72 ends and kept up the momentum over the next 12 ends taking an 8 shot lead which they extended to 16 shots with just 2 ends remaining on each rink.
You would have thought the game was beyond La Posada, but the spirited fight back seen them cutting the deficit to 10 shots over the next 6 ends.
La Posada managed to take 11 shots in the last 6 ends but Lauro picked up the 3 shots needed to take the Cup with a final score of 103 - 101.
Congratulations to all the members of the finalist clubs for their contribution to this excellent and close contest and especially to the Lauro team for their victory.
The players enjoyed the hospitality of Mijas as thanks for their endeavours.
Special thanks to Doug Hall (Delegado), Umpire Bill Neal and the members of Mijas Jean, Sheila, John and Bente for the catering and bar services.
