The Mijas LBC qualified Umpires are willing to conduct markers training this winter. This will be open to all of our members and provide useful information on the Laws of the game.
We expect 3 sessions of 4 hours will be required to prepare members to the necessary standard to allow them to comfortably mark in house matches. We want to compolete all the sessions before the end of 2024.
The training will include instruction on the Laws, practical measuring and marking a short game.
Attendees will have the option to complete the Markers exam.
For those who wish the formal certification we can organise an examination from an external Umpire. The formal exam last 3-4 hours & will consist of written test, multiple choice, marking a short game and then a practical measuring test on the green. Completion of the exam provides those wishing to progress to Umpire level the necessary first step.
We can run the sessions for groups of 4 to 6 people with 10.30 start subject to availability of members and Umpires and if necessary we will run a course specifically for those not having English as their first language.
A sheet has been posted on the Competition Board for members to add their names if they are interested in the training, but we would recommend that every member undertakes the training if they have not previously received instruction on the Laws and measuring.
