Mijas vs Santa Maria Triples League

The final league match of the season was played out between Mijas and Santa Maria with Santa Maria needing 2 points to secure the League and Mijas needing a strong result to avoid being left with the wooden spoon.

Santa Maria secured the League with a convincing win on the first rink to finish and the other three games were in the balance going into the final few ends. Mijas won the next game to finish by a single shot and it required Eoghain to cut down the Santa Maria five shot advantage to a single shot in the last end to scrape the win.

Geoff Collins and Craig Lewis battled out for a draw after Mijas held a convincing lead going int the 3rd quarter of the game.

John Wilsons rink took 5 shots in the 16th end to take a 4 shot lead and managed to keep the losses down to a single shot in the 17th and 18th end to win that match by 2 shots.

Santa Maria managed to take the overall shot count and a 5-5 score line was a fair result, but it left Mijas at the foot of the table.

The competition did not end there- As a Pil -Pil Cook off between Simone and John W followed to round off what was a successful winter campaign for the Mijas (Pairs) and Santa Maria (Triples) League teams.

A great end to a wonderfull day of friendly competition seen Simone present the Pil Pil Trophy to Mijas.

The League tables shows the standings with one cancelled Triples League still to be completed, but it will not affect the standings significantly. Also enclosed is the League performances of the Mijas triples team selections through the season.
