FAB Singles update 11-16 June

The FAB Malaga Singles which is being held at Mijas LBC started on the 11th June for the round of 32 and we have now reached the semi final stage with 2 x Mijas, 1 x Lauro and 1 x

La Posada members remaining.

The results for the round of 32, 16 & QF games are shown on the updated draw sheet.

The semi final and the final will be played on Monday 16th June commencing at 10.30 for the semi finals. Mat vs John W and Jeff (Lauro) vs Nick (La Posada)

Round of 32 game highlights-

Tommy Dahlgren came back from a 2-13 against Ian Patterson in an excellent game over 28 ends with Tommy finally getting over the line.

Hans Nordling and Chris Jewson were nip and tuck battle all the way through their game and some excellent heads. Hans finishing the stronger to progress to the round of 16.

Maggan played a brilliant drawing game against John Fenton to win 21-7. Completing a clean sweep for our Scandinavian vs England match ups on the day.

John Rimell played a well managed game for a convincing win against Andy Woodings (La Posada).

John Wilson scrambled over the line after picking out the jack clean and following it into the ditch from a game down lie to win by a single shot over Morrow Horner (Miraflores). Morrow had fought back from 18-6 down.

Neil, Classe, Bente and Barbara all won their games convincingly with Alan Cox, Gus and Ewan losing out in all Mijas ties. Kaija and Per Arne put up spirited resistance against far more experienced opposition and will have benefitted from the experience.

Tommy, Bente and Mat prevailed in the 3 all Mijas ties in the morning session in the round of 16 with Bente and Mat winning by a few shots.

John Wilson beat John Rimell in the all Mijas afternoon tie and Barbara had a 21-18 win over Ann Anderson (Lauro). Neil and Maggan bowed out of the competition with their heads held high.

The Quarter Finals

Mat finished strongly to overcome Tommy in the all Mijas tie, John W beat Kevin (Lauro) in a very competitive game, Bente lost to Jeff (Lauro) after a great game and Nick (La Posada) mastered rink 6 to defeat Barbara.

Winner of the rink win prediction (Red or Blue) for the 12 June sessions were Classe (5/5 wins) morning session then John Fenton (6/6 wins) for the afternoon session. Bill won with a 4/4 prediction on Friday mornings session.
