Mijas LBC have a strong representation in both the Ladies and Mens Squads for the Provincial match at Lauro on the 2nd and 3rd October with morning session games starting at 10.00. Sheila, Chris J, Barbara, Lynda, Mary and Bente have all been included in the Ladies squad while John W, Alan R, Tommy and Juan are in the Mens squad. The match is played in 4s/singles and Triples/Pairs in alternating sessions.

The Call Notice for the Spanish Nationals has been posted in the club house. This event is played as Gender Specific Singles with round robin qualifying from 7th December and then knock out from the quarter final stage. It is iplayed n 2 set format through out the Competition and players should expect to play 2 games a day. Thanks to the 39 members who have been prompt in their payment of the 26/27 membership fees. This has allowed us to conduct final trial fit and personalisation ready for the start of the new League season which starts on the 9th October. The hosts La Posada had 3 teams in the semi finals with Mijas members Bente and Tommy completing the line up. Tommy and Bente lost semi final after taking a one shot lead after 9 ends and put up a spirited effort before eventually losing out over the last 3 ends. The final was probably the closest match in the competition with only one shot separating the teams.

Well done to everyone involved in playing, organising and helping with club and Umpire duties the Summer triples event held at Mijas from 5th September. The Winter League schedule has been prepared for the 26/27 season with 6 clubs in the Tigers - Triple League and 4 clubs entered into the Lions- Pairs League. Mijas LBC will celebrate its 40th anniversary during the 2026/27 years membership. We appreciate the efforts of all our past members that helped the club get to this position. We are in a fortunate position with current membership numbers, diverse nationalities and friendly club spirit. The Federation meeting was held on 18th June and a few significant issues were discussed and agreed. Paul Hughes was elected as Malaga Team Manager for the next 12 months. Discussions will be held before the next Provincial match regarding selection and changes to the existing team compilation.
