Lauro retain Challenge Cup
Lauro finished their Cup campaign for 2025 in style with a convincing 141-65 win over Saydo at Mijas LBC. Congratulations to Lauro on their win and Saydo for getting to their first Cup Final. Lauro were 26 points ahead after 4 ends on all the rinks and managed to build on that lead through out the fixtures on rinks 1 thru 3, but rinks 4, 5 and 6 were closely contested over all 18 ends. League results from 21 Nov
Mijas Triples team played the rearranged Week 5 home League fixture against Benavista with a convincing 115-35 shot aggregate, but lost one of the games by 2 shots to win 8-2. This result keeps Mijas 9 points clear at the top of the table, but third placed La Posada have still to host second placed Lauro in their Week 5 fixture. League games rescheduled
Week 5 League fixtures and the Saydo Open have all cancelled due to heavy and continuous rain. The Triples League game against Benavista will now be played on Friday 15 November starting at 14.00 hrs after the Week 6 Pairs game against Lauro which starts at 11.00. Mijas Pairs game against Lauro away will be held on the Friday 5th December commencing 11.00. The fixture dates for the other cancelled games are shown below.

England pip R o W to International Challenge for the Pil-Pil Trophy
After 2 rounds of 10 end games England won the shot aggregate points to tie the series on 9 points, but took the title with a 2 shot aggregate being the difference and the deciding factor. Every English team had 1 of their 2 games while RoW had won 4 and drew 1.

Post Festive In-house Comps
We have prepared the playing schedule for the In-house Drawn Pairs and the Gents and Ladies Championships that will be played to completion on the 6th March 2026. Mijas hosted Greystones BC Eire
14 members of Greystones BC Eire were the final touring team hosted by Mijas this Autumn season. This was the 4th game on their weeks visit to the Costa and were able to take away a well deserved draw on one of the rinks. The Mijas members and the guests were tested in the windy conditions, but had a calm end to the day with a few drinks. .

Mijas Week 4 League results
Mijas had 8-2 wins in both the Triples and Pairs League games over La Posada. We remain top of the Triples League and will are in second place in the Pairs League on shot difference. We managed to include another 3 players previously not involved in the League and Cup games this season, meaning we have now played 30 of our members in at least one or more fixture. FAB Malaga vs Almeria result
Malaga were unable to repeat the win of the spring losing by 31 to 33 and a 15 shot difference across all the matches away from home. All nine of Mijas members involved in a spirited fightback on the second day of Competition having lost all 8 of the Ladies games while the Gents won 6 of the 8 games for a 12-20 scoreline in favour of Almeria. On day 2 the Ladies won 5 of the 8 games while the gents won 4 games and drew 1 for a second day scoreline of 19- 13 in favour of Mijas

Ball & Chain - ARRT Call Notice
The Ball & Chain -ARRT Call Notice has been posted in the club house to allow Mijas members priority for entry. These Competitions can accommodate 24 teams split into six pools of 4 teams playing in a round robin qualifier. Summary Conditions of play will be posted in the clubhouse. Week 3 League results
Mijas Triples and Pairs both had 8-2 wins in week 3. Triples won 8-2 at Saydo with a narrow loss on the 4th rink. Mijas Eagles now have a 3 point lead at the top of the Triples League. Pairs won by a convincing overall margin at home against La Posada. This was enough to take Mijas Swallows level on points but sit 3rd on shot difference. Due to the Malaga - Almeria Provincial match next weekend there is no League games next week. The next League games are Friday 7th November

Mijas lose out in close Cup tie
Lauro beat Mijas by 6 shots despite Mijas winning on 4 of the 6 rinks by 1,2,3 and 4 shots. Congratulations to Lauro on their win and they will play La Posada in the semi finals after they won 100-96. Miraflores and Saydo play in the other semi final.

2 Bowl Pairs at Saydo-Result
Saydo BC members Stuart Brickley/Jan Sudworth won the 2 bowl Pairs event on home soil 16-12 in a rain delayed final. Bente and Tommy won their first game but were beaten in the round of 16. S & J Wilson and M & C Hernehult lost by a single shot in the last end.

Time to organise our Xmas events
We have made a provisional booking to return to La Sierra for the clubs Dinner Dance. Due to a very busy bowls calendar in late November and early December the event is being held on Friday 12th December. Friday following Ball and Chain and the week after the last League games in 2025. The club will contribute €15 towards the event for each current paid up member and that will be paid as the deposit.
