Malaga Provincial Triples-update
The last of the 5 Mijas teams (Pat, Simone, Mary ) were eliminated at the semi Final Stage after a hard fought match against a strong home Lauro team. A Combined Saydo/La Posada team skipped by Dave McCann beat another Lauro Trio in the other semi. Due to the heavy rain and water logged rinks the final has been rescheduled.

Malaga Provincial Pairs at Saydo
Mijas have 4 pairs entered for the Provincial Pairs at Saydo. Due to internet problems encountered by La Posada their entry was not received by the hosts on Friday and the revised draw is enclosed below. Following a review of the Procedures and thanks to the hard work of the Competition Secretary at Saydo all 22 entries are now included in the draw. The Competition will still fall within period Sunday 12th thru Wednesday 15th April. The full playing schedule is shown. Members

Call Notice Provincial Singles
The closing date for the Provincial Singles (played as 21 up format) at La Posada is Friday 10th April. Mijas members interested in playing in the event should have their names on the entry sheet in the clubhouse by the end of our roll up session on Thursday 9th April to allow time for the Competitions Secretary (Tommy D) to make a timely submission. Roll Up times revised- April 26 AGM
At the April 2nd 2026 AGM the members agreed to revise the start times for our social bowling sessions on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Effective from Sunday 5th April the Social roll up times will be as stated below. The aim of these changes are to enable a full 18 end game where ever possible. Welsh visitors Lampeter BC
Mijas hosted a friendly group of 16 bowlers from Wales on their first tour game on an overcast day on the 20th March. The visitors enjoyed the rinks matches winning on 1 of the rinks before a drink and prize giving. La Posada Open Pairs-Update
Six Mijas teams entered the La Posada Open which commenced on Saturday 21 March. Four of the Mijas teams played La Posada opposition. T and B Dahlgren lost to N Cummins/M.Ansted, M & C. Hernehult lost in a tie break to Price/South B.Land & M.Detheridge lost to Gowthorpe/Hogarth J & S Wilson beat Craig/Edgar and play Cummins/Ansted on Monday. MLBC host Headwell BC Tour 2026
Headwell BC Dunfermline were welcomed back by the members of Mijas LBC and after having missed last years game due to poor weather they were treated to perfect weather conditions for this mid March game. Headwell were the first of the Spring 2026 Touring teams to visit Mijas LBC.

Final Winter League standings
After a weather disrupted end to the Winter League season we have managed to complete the schedule a week later than the original timings. Mijas managed to stay top of the Pairs League and Lauro finished strongly to win the Triples League ahead of La Posada with Mijas finishing 3rd out of 6 clubs. Spring League Schedule
Mijas, La Posada, Lauro and Saydo have entered the Spring League this year. The League will be played over 6 consecutive Fridays commencing on 3rd April with Mijas vs Saydo. Each club will play each other twice with a 3 bowl triples, Aussie Pairs and 4 Bowl Pairs at both home and away venues on the same day. (14 members-7/venue) 2 points for each rink win and 2 points for the overall shot aggregate.

MLBC Gents Champion 2025/26
Mijas LBC completed its annual in-house Competitions with the Gents Championship between Barry Holt and Juan Abeal. Both these players had came through 3rd end tie break wins in their semi finals to get to this stage and the spectators were treated to another exciting and high standard final. Barry started the stronger and took the first set within 8 of the 9 ends. The second set was a much closer affair with Juan just managing to keep his nose in front winning the set by 3

Benavista hosted the FAB Malaga Singles event from 7 thru 10 March with 18 entries unfortunately no Mijas entries were submitted. It was an all Benavista final with Jean Munt beating Doug Hall to claim the title.

MLBC Drawn Pairs Winners
Mijas members were treated to an excellent Drawn Pairs final between Tommy Dahlgren/Juan Abeal and Ann Fenton/Kaija Vehmanen. The game was very even through 10 ends with a single point between the teams and all players contributing equally to the match. Tommy and Juan then managed to win multiple ends by a couple of shots in a row keeping their opponents stuck on 7 until the final few ends but only managed single shots. Dress Code
The FAB Malaga Committee has agreed to change the Dress Code Rules for the 2024/25 season and hopefully clarifying what footwear is acceptable when playing in Federation events including League and Cup ties. It will be up to each club to set their own standards for their friendlies and roll ups, however flip flops will not be permitted on the Mijas rinks and sandals without heel straps are not recommended as these may invalidate any insurance claim made by an individual.
