Mijas Masters Pairs & Triples draw
The draws for the Mijas Masters Pairs (29 teams) and Triples (19 teams) events are shown below. We are thankful to our sponsors IBEX Insurance and all of the entrants, especially those from Miraflores, Saydo, La Posada and Lauro. The 4 bowls Open Pairs event played over 18 ends starts on Saturday 7th February with the first session starting sharp at 11.00. Week 8 Mijas League results
Mijas Pairs had a convincing 10-0 home win against Saydo and extended the lead at the top of that League to 17 points with 4 games remaining. The Pairs travel to La Posada on Friday 6th February. The Triples managed a 6-4 away win at Miraflores losing narrowly in 2 of the games. This keeps Mijas at the top, but Lauro and La Posada both closed the gap with their 8-2 wins. The Triples host Saydo on Friday 6th February

Week 7 Pairs League result
Mijas extended their lead at the top of the Pairs League to 7 points with a 7-3 away win at Saydo against the 2nd top team on the 23 January (rescheduled game from the 16 January). We were fortunate to get the game played on a wet rink but managed to avoid the rain forecast for the afternoon. Lauro lost 6-4 at home against bottom club La Posada. This result means Mijas are 7 points ahead in both Leagues going into the Week 8 fixtures when the Pairs are at home against Saydo

Mijas LBC club Drawn Pairs
The Drawn Pairs included 36 members having identified their interest and availability given the playing schedule. It is up to each Pair to decide which player will Lead and Skip for each 18 end game. No trial ends, but 1 shot in each of the first 2 ends, burnt jack placed on T & complete end. A number of members have not entered or are not present for the full duration of the Competition, but they will be available as a reserve to allow a tie to be played on schedule. If all

2026 Winter League fixtures
The Winter League resumes was due to resume on Friday 16th January with only the Pairs team playing away in a table top clash away at Saydo. This game was cancelled due to the weather and will now be played on Friday 23rd with the same team selections. The Triples League starts on the Friday 30th January with Triples away at Miraflores and the Pairs hosting Saydo.

Gents Singles Champs update
Mijas LBC Gents Singles Championships started on the 9th January with the preliminary round matches. All games played over 2 x 9 end sets and then a 3 end tie break if required. We are now at the semi final stages of both Gents and Ladies Singles and the games are scheduled for Monday 2 March 11.00 start. Players may arrange to play their games earlier than the playing schedule but must organise their own markers.

Ladies Championship 25/26 update
MIJAS LBC Ladies Singles Championships will be played in 2 x 9 end sets and then a 3 end tie break if required. Both games played so far have went to the third end of the tie break. Alternative Round Robin Winners
Mathew Parkinson and Robin (Gus) Drake won the ARRT in the 3rd end of a tie break over Juan Abeal and Christine Naughton in what was an excellent match throughout. Mat and Gus had beat Eoghain and Tom Muckley in a tie break in the morning semis while Juan and Christine required the 3rd end of the tie-break to overcome Ian Patterson and Joan Corbett.

Ball & Chain winners
Tommy and Bente Dahlgren regained the Ball & Chain title they last won in 2023 from Alan and Lynda Robertson who were defending the crown from 2024. This was match worthy of the final and went to the 2nd end of the tie break. Lynda and Alan had won their semi final in 2nd end of the tie break over John and Sheila Wilson in the morning while the Dahlgrens beat Benavista members Julie and Doug Hall winning the second set after a draw in set 1.

Pre festive inhouse Comp winners
Mijas LBC members completed their first 2 in-house competitions on the 3rd December with the Handicap Singles between Tommy Dahlgren and Hans Nordling. Hans had a 3 hot handicap advantage at the start of the game but Tommy managed to overcome this in the first few ends and despite a strong performance in very windy conditions through out from Hans he lost 21-13. Thanks to Ian Patterson for marking the final. The Drawn Triples final was closely contested with the first 8 ends

Dress Code
The FAB Malaga Committee has agreed to change the Dress Code Rules for the 2024/25 season and hopefully clarifying what footwear is acceptable when playing in Federation events including League and Cup ties. It will be up to each club to set their own standards for their friendlies and roll ups, however flip flops will not be permitted on the Mijas rinks and sandals without heel straps are not recommended as these may invalidate any insurance claim made by an individual.
